THE UST Publishing House is offering a five-percent discount to UST students, faculty members, administrators, employees, priests, and alumni who will buy books at the UST Bookstore.

The discount is permanent and will be applicable to all titles published by the UST Publishing House, Publishing House Director Asst. Prof. Ma. Ailil Alvarez told the Varsitarian.

“There is no end date to this. This is not a promo, but a policy: We simply wanted to give back to the Thomasian community even in a small way,” Alvarez said.

“It is our hope that by offering this discount on all titles published by the USTPH, members of the Thomasian community… will have an incentive to visit and patronize the UST Bookstore more often [and] have the chance to familiarize themselves with the titles we produce,” she added.

The discount will apply only to cash payments and cannot be used with other promos of the Publishing House.

To avail themselves of the discount, students, Dominican fathers, faculty members, employees, and alumni must present their UST IDs upon checkout at the UST Publishing House Bookstore.

The bookstore, located at the UST Main Building, is open from Monday to Friday (except holidays) from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The UST Publishing House is considered the oldest continuing press in the world, as it is the offspring of the UST Press (founded in 1593 by Fr. Francisco de San Jose, O.P.) and UST Printing Office’s merger in 1996.

It recently moved its physical bookstore to the old UST Post Office site.
