THREE College of Commerce freshmen were caught exhibiting drunken behavior in front of the St. Raymund’s Building when they attempted to attend their afternoon classes at around 2 p.m. last July 2.

This reporter saw the students, one female and two males, walking in a drunken state to the lobby. The female became hysterical that attracted the attention of the students in the area.

Instead of being brought directly to the Office for Students Affairs, the two male students were brought to the Commerce Guidance Office, while the female student was brought to the UST Health Service.

Detachment Commander Clemente Dingayan said the girl had “emotional problems” that urged her to drink and that she only asked her two classmates to join her.

According to Policies and Procedures (PPS) no. 1025 of the UST Code of Conduct and Discipline in the Student’s Handbook, the students are prohibited from bringing in, possessing, or drinking alcoholic beverages in the University premises, or entering under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

As of press time, the Office for Student Affairs is yet to decide on the sanctions on the students.

Three hours after the incident, a melee nearly broke out just outside the Faculty of Civil Law (Law) lobby between members of rival fraternities.

Reports from the Security Office said Gamma Delta Epsilon members Emmanuel Castillo and Emmanuel Bulaong engaged in a fistfight with Suprema Lex members Victor Ariel Soliven, Allan Bugayong and Allan Sixto.

Security guard Danilo Poyaoan was able to stop the students before the fight got uglier.
