STUDENTS can now use their digital IDs to verify their grades and check their accounts with the University.

According to UST Computer Center (USTCC) director Fr. Winston Cabading, O.P., the University had wanted to show students the utility of the digital ID. Moreover, the added features of the ID would make paperwork easier for the University’s employees.

The new feature was added because transcripts are the most frequently requested records by students.

In addition, Perla Cosme, USTCC software department assistant head, said the feature was added because of complaints on the discrepancies between the mailed grades and the class cards.

“Discrepancies will be avoided this way dahil direkta sa computer maglalagay ng grade ‘yung professors. Isa lang ang record na susulatan nila,” Cosme said.

Cosme also added that the University is planning to stop the use of class cards.

“Since the students could verify their grades anytime, we are looking at the possibility of removing the class cards to lessen the paperwork of the professors,” Cosme said in Filipino.

The USTCC is also planning to launch another feature that would enable students to see available schedules in their course and fees. The new feature, Cosme, said would guide students in deciding what subjects to enroll in and fix conflicts in schedule. John Carlo Bautista and Jennifer B. Fortuno
