SINCE UST is the only university in the Philippines with a travel bureau in campus, Thomasian Tourism students will have an edge in the job market.

According to Ferdinand Ocampo, Allpoints Travel Services president, his agency will help tourism students to be more knowledgeable about the travel industry. “I have always believed in youth power,” Ocampo said.

Allpoints formally took over the travel bureau last Jan.11 at the St. Albertus Magnus Bldg. The UST Tourism Department and the Tourism Society sponsored the event.

Previously, the travel bureau was handled by Kenstar Travel Agency.

According to Ocampo, since his agency is “technology-based, consultative in nature, budget-conscious, and updated in terms of office system,” his agency can effectively train the students to become competitive.

“We wanted to be part of the concept of the College of Education’s hands-on training for tourism students. We would be their partner as they go about their travel operations,” Ocampo said.

Meanwhile, Allpoints also launched Tour D’ Chef, an exclusive “travel incentive scheme” specially designed for UST.

The client will receive raffle coupon for every P5,000 worth of transaction with the bureau. The grand prizes are two tickets to Macau, China, two tickets to Bangkok, Thailand, and a ticket for a 10-day tour to either the Holy Land or any Marian pilgrimage site.

The promo period runs from Jan. 14 to Dec. 8. The raffle draw will be held during the Paskuhan 2002.
