THE UST Graduate School Center of Professional Development and Consultancy Services director has been appointed director of the Public and Alumni Affairs Office by Fr. Rector Tamerlane Lana, O.P., to replace Prof. Anna Maria Gloria Ward.

“I do not intend to make any changes in the plans she (Ward) has already started for PAAO,” Dr. Maria Cristina Cabral said. “I will continue the projects of gathering the alumni, improving the Academia and stimulating the University’s public presence through media as what Fr. Lana and Prof. Ward have already prepared.”

Ward is now occupying the position Cabral vacated.

Cabral said she plans to hold dialogue with the barangays around UST to ensure the safety of the Thomasians.

She added PAAO will also have a news bureau that would make use of the official University website to inform and continuously update Thomasians of PAAO’s activites.

Cabral graduated from the College of Commerce in 1983. She obtained her Master’s in Science Commerce major in Business Economics in 1995 and graduated magna cum laude in her Doctorate in Philosophy major in Economics in 2001.

On the other hand, Assistant Treasurer Fr. Clarence Marquez, O.P. was appointed director of the Institute of Religion (IR) last Oct. 20, replacing Vice- Rector for Religious Affairs Fr. Rodel Aligan, O.P.

“There are three E’s I can offer IR: energy, earnestness, and eagerness,” Fr. Marquez said.

Fr. Marquez, who teaches in the Faculty of Sacred Theology, earned his Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree from UST (1994). His term as assistant treasurer will end in December. Lady Camille L. de Guia and Mary Elaine V. Gonda
