WITH new schools come new uniforms. Such is the case with the newly-instituted Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy and Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (ITHM).

Accountancy girls wear a white linen blouse with red linings accessorized with brown cloth belt. They have the option of wearing either skirt or pants.

The boys wear an off-white polo barong shirt with red linings at the corners and black straight pants.

“The uniform suits us,” said Denise Morales, an Accountancy junior. “The design is functional and matches our course’s identity.”

To reflect the multidisciplinary dimension of its course offerings, ITHM has come up with unique uniforms.

“The sketch of the new ITHM uniforms came from the dresses worn by the reservation agents, flight crew, ground crew, and hotel staff,” said Prof. Ma. Cecilia A. Tio-Cuison, director of ITHM. “This is to instill professionalism and formality among the students.”

The ITHM girls wear navy-blue vest, skirt, scarf, stockings, black pumps and off-white blouses. The boys don a navy-blue vest on top with an off-white polo, green striped necktie and navy blue pants.

Tio-Cuison said navy-blue reflects “the dynamics of tourism”. The green color, she added, “signifies the green pastures tourism brings.” Rieze Rose T. Calbay
