FACULTY of Arts and Letters professor and former Varsitarian Filipino editor Ramon Osorio has been appointed ABS-CBN vice-president for corporate communications and public affairs.

“I was quite pleased when ABS-CBN invited me to fill up the position,” Osorio told the Varsitarian. “Being in ABS-CBN brings my career into full circle, having worked in the fields of mainstream advertising, public relations, advocacy, journalism and teaching.”

Osorio was chosen to head the department because of his experience in corporate communication as head of the Campaigns and Grey advertising agency.

“As of now, I have no specific plans for the department since my term will still start on March 1,” Osorio said. “I will be in charge of preparing requirements for ABS CBN and all of its affiliates like The Filipino Channel, MYX, and Studio 23, among others.”

Osorio said that his new post as an ABS CBN executive will not hinder him from teaching in both the Artlets Communication Arts program and the UST Graduate School.

“I will always make sure that my schedule would allow me to teach,” Osorio said.

Osorio is an AB Communication Arts graduate in 1974. He was awarded by the Philippine Marketing Association Agora for Outstanding Marketing Education in 2002 and was named one of The Outstanding Thomasian Alumnus (TOTAL) for media in 2003. He was also a two-time Catholic Mass Media Awards recipient for Best Business Column, in 2002 and 2004.
