04 March 2014, 2:20 p.m. – FIRE BROKE out at the sixth floor of the Clinical Division of UST Hospital earlier this morning.
As of posting, Sampaloc Fire Department chief inspector Crisfo Diaz said investigators still had to determine the cause of the fire, which started at 11:12 a.m. and was put out at 11:43 a.m.
Initial reports traced the source of the fire to the Skills Laboratory. Fire investigators are looking at electrical malfunction of equipment as the probable cause.
Diaz said no casualties were reported. Damage to property was estimated at 50,000 pesos.
Patients and resident doctors from the Clinical Division, along with students and faculty from the St. Martin de Porres Building, were evacuated after the fire broke out. Andre Arnold T. Santiago
