September 5, 2015, 4:32p.m. – IN ANTICIPATION of the coming
Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy of the Catholic Church and the jubilee
of the 800th year of the Dominican Order, the University
opened a “prayer exhibit” at the Tan Yan Kee Students’ Center
last Sept. 4.
The exhibit, which has the theme “Mater
Misericordiae,” was organized by the Marian Evangelization Community (MEC) and the Bosconian-Thomasian Youth Movement.
Richard Pazcoguin, assistant director of the campus
ministry, said the exhibit was aimed at informing students on the two
jubilee celebrations.
“This exhibit is catechetical. We have no other
purpose than to give information on what the two jubilees are about,”
Pazcoguin said.
The exhibit calls upon Thomasians to pray, he added.
“It’s a prayer exhibit. The only thing we want to do is to
provide people a venue for prayer. It’s nothing really big. The souls that can
be reached here are more than enough,” Pazcoguin said.
Anthea Allam, public relations officer of
the MEC, noted that the exhibit was opened ahead
of the Virgin Mary’s birthday.
“Itong exhibit na ito ay way namin para ma-promote ‘yung
Jubilee Year of Mercy na sinimulan ni Pope Francis,” she said.
A Holy Mass will be held on Sept. 8 in
celebration of the Blessed Mother’s nativity. The exhibit will be
open to public until Sept. 11. K. N. A.
