October 10, 2015, 1:09a.m. – THE UNIVERSITY’s passing rate declined in the recent licensure examination for mechanical engineers.

UST posted a passing rate of 63.21 percent, with 67 Thomasians making the cut out of 106 examinees, data from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. Last year’s passing rate was 92.03 percent, with 127 passing the test out of 138 examinees.

The University of the Philippines-Diliman dethroned Batangas State University as the top-performing school, with a 96.61-percent passing rate.

The national passing rate plunged to 55.25 percent with only 2,136 passing the test out of 3,866 examinees, from last year’s 77.06 percent, in which 2,960 passed out of 3,841 examinees. Dayanara T. Cudal

  1. I am part of the 37 that failed in the September 2015 Mechanical Engineering Board Exam. And I believe that this rate drop is due to the erroneous questions in the examinations. On the other hand, we believe that God has other plans for us and we will rise to the occasion for the next Mechanical Engineering board exam.
