December 10, 2015, 4:08p.m. – UNIVERSITY officials will be allowed to monitor closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed around the campus using their mobile devices.
In a memorandum issued by the Office of the Vice Rector for Finance last Nov. 13, UST administrators, including college deans, regents, department heads and principals, can access live streaming of University cameras by installing an Android-based application named “3S VMS” on their smartphones or tablet devices.
“In line with the growing demand to regularly monitor personnel and faculty attendance and other special monitoring functions using our CCTV cameras, we are pleased to provide you procedures to facilitate such requests,” Vice Rector for Finance Fr. Manuel Roux, O.P. said in the memorandum.
However, only one gadget per college or department may be authorized. The mobile application will record viewing activities and login history.
CCTV cameras were installed in the University in 2010 as part of security measures. Jerome P. Villanueva
