UST HIGH School (USTHS) Prof. Zenaida Roda was appointed the new principal last June 26 to replace Prof. Editha Fernandez, who left her post to pursue her Ph. D. in Education.

Prior to her appointment, Roda was assistant principal of the USTHS for the last four years. She earned her master’s degree through the offshore program of the University of Western Australia at the UST Graduate School.

As the new principal, Roda’s first agenda is the implementation of the new basic curriculum for the school year.

Roda, who has been teaching at the USTHS for 34 years, said students should learn how to balance their time between academics and extra-curricular activities because high school is preparatory for college. She also wants to focus on the students’ spiritual growth to make them well-rounded persons.

Meanwhile, USTHS formally launched their Diamond Jubilee Celebration last July 26.

The launching started with a Holy Mass at the UST Chapel followed by a parade of students, faculty administrators, parents, and USTHS alumni clad in costumes representing each relevant period of the high school. In the evening, a dance party was held at the Engineering Complex with the theme “The Magic Begins.”

The year-long celebration will have with monthly activities, including the general alumni homecoming of priests, nuns, and former officers of the Student Catholic Action, bingo games, a golf tournament, and the annual fair. Ma. Karmina P. De Ungria
