A THOMASIAN accountant has topped the certified management accountant (CMA) examinations in the United States.
Manny John Tan, who finished accountancy in 2005, magna cum laude, was awarded a gold medal for garnering the highest score in the CMA exams held in February last year.
“[I was] very surprised. I thought it was a hoax,” Tan said in an online interview.
Tan, who is now a financial controller for a firm in Dubai, placed ninth in the 2005 Philippine certified public accountant board exams.
The management accountant exam is a rigorous two-part exam with only a 50-percent passing rate globally.
The examination was given by the Institute of Management Accountants, a worldwide association of management accountants with members in 140 countries.
