POPE FRANCIS’ representative to the Philippines, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, will preside over this year’s Misa de Apertura or opening Mass on Aug. 1 at the Santisimo Rosario Parish, which signals the start of a new academic year in the Pontifical University.
The annual Misa de Apertura, also known as the Mass of the Holy Spirit, will begin with the parade of University officials, deans, principals and institute directors.
Faculty of Arts and Letters Dean Michael Anthony Vasco will deliver the Discurso de Apertura or the keynote speech delivered by a professor for the opening of classes.
General orientation activities for the first batch of freshmen who graduated under the K to 12 curriculum, is set on Aug. 3.
The passing through the Arch of the Centuries as a symbolic welcome to the University, or the Thomasian Welcome Walk, is scheduled on Aug. 6.
