THE UNIVERSITY posted a 95.24-percent passing rate in the April 2019 electrical engineering board exams, with 20 out of 21 Thomasian examinees making the cut.

This was higher than last year’s 80-percent passing rate, or four out of five examinees passing the test.

Christian Cahig of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology led this year’s newest batch of electrical engineers together with Clark Sigmund de Castro from University of the Philippines (UP) in Los Baños, Laguna. Both had a score of 93.50 percent.

UP Los Baños was hailed as this year’s top-performing school in the electrical engineering board exams after recording a perfect passing rate, with all 33 examinees making the cut.

The national passing rate rose to 62.79 percent, or 1,600 out of 2,548 examinees, from last year’s 50.08 percent, or 1,831 out of 3,656 examinees.

UST did not field any examinees for this year’s master electrician licensure exams.

Kenneth Bolima and Aldwin Mercado from De La Salle University in Lipa, Batangas topped this year’s master electrician board exams, posting a score of 94 percent.

La Salle Lipa was named the top-performing school for this year’s test, after it registered a passing rate of 98.96 percent, or 95 out of 96 examinees.

The national passing rate for the master electrician board exams rose to 56.14 percent, or 2,093 out of 3,728 examinees, from last year’s 52.12 percent, or 1,315 out of 2,523 examinees.
