A PHOTOGRAPH of a moon-planet-planet conjunction in the skies above UST in Manila made the rounds on social media Thursday evening.
UST Senior High School physics teacher Kashogi Walter Astapan captured the photo of the rare alignment of the moon and planets Venus and Jupiter.
Astapan said the celestial event is called a planetary conjunction.
“Nangyayari ito kapag mukhang magkalapit ang dalawang celestial objects mula sa point of view natin sa Earth, ” he told the Varsitarian.
The Venus and Jupiter conjuction was previously seen on Jan. 22, 2019 and is expected to happen again in 2021.
Astapan, a member of the Philippine Astronomical Society, captured the photo with his Fujifilm XE-2 camera and posted it on Facebook.
The photo racked up 14,000 reactions along with 19,000 shares.
