UST Hospital (USTH) on Tuesday announced that one of two patients who tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) last Saturday has been discharged.
In a statement, the USTH management said the patient met the discharge criteria set by the Department of Health (DOH).
“The Hospital prepared for this at the start of 2020, with protocols instituted since early January, close coordination with the Department of Health, and contingencies set in place for the worst-case scenario,” the statement read.
The hospital also said the enhanced community quarantine implemented by President Rodrigo Duterte “further depleted the workforce,” noting that they already lacked manpower due to the mandatory quarantine that the exposed hospital staff and trainees had complied with.
UST Hospital also expressed gratitude to individuals and organizations who showed support and encouragement by donating cash, supplies and food.
Earlier on Tuesday, the DOH announced 45 new Covid-19 cases in the country. This brought the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 187.
DOH also announced that four patients have recovered from the virus, one of them from Negros Oriental, reported as a repatriated crew member of the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship.
