A THOMASIAN topped the May 2022 certified public accountants (CPA) licensure examinations, where the University notched a 41.24-percent passing rate, almost double the national average.

Jhoone Nacario ranked first nationwide with a score of 88.83 percent, the fourth Thomasian in five years to top the examinations. She joined the roster of Justine Louie Santiago (October 2019), Lahaira Amy Reyes (October 2018) and Alfonso Solomon Magno (October 2017).

No topnotchers were announced in the previous two cycles of the CPA licensure examinations held in October and December 2021.

Nacario was joined by three other Thomasians in the top 10: Charlene Perez (No. 3, 88 percent), Gerimee Mappatao (No. 8, 86.67 percent) and August de la Cruz (No. 10, 86.17 percent).

De la Cruz shared the 10th spot with Jillian Chua of De La Salle University-Manila and Jason Mesde of the Central Luzon State University.

A total of 73 out of 177 Thomasian examinees made the cut.

UST’s passing rate improved from December 2021’s 39.22-percent passing rate, or 40 out of 102 examinees.

No top-performing schools were announced as none had at least 50 passers and an 80-percent passing rate.

The national passing rate slightly increased to 22.29 percent (990 out of 4,442 examinees) from 21.87 percent (318 out of 1,454 examinees) last December.

The CPA licensure examinations were conducted from May 22 to 24.
