THE UST Female Woodpushers outmaneuvered the University of the East Lady Warriors while the Male Woodpushers bowed down to the Adamson University Soaring Falcons in the UAAP season 82 chess tournaments at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion Saturday.
The women’s team outwitted the Lady Warriors, 4-0, while the Soaring Falcons outlasted men’s squad, 3.5-1.5.
Female Woodpushers Maycydel Fajardo, Jamaica Lagrio, May Ann Alcantara and Vaneza Villamil outsmarted UE’s Cristhina Ann Medenilla, Isabel Palibino, Shaira Mae Aquino and Monaliza Geronimo, respectively.
In men’s play, Woodpusher Brylle Gever Vinluan outplayed Soaring Falcon Christian Huavas while Samson Chhiu Chhin Lim settled for a draw against Godfrey Villamor.
UST’s Julius Gonzales and Melito Oscan Jr. yielded to Adamson’s Remark Bartolome and Khristian Clyde Arellano.
The women’s team rose to third place with 34 points, while the men’s squad remained at solo second with 33 points.
