25 April 2014, 8:25 p.m. – THE UST Tigresses held off Adamson University’s late-game rally to notch their second win, 73-58, in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at The Arena in San Juan Friday.

Tigress Lore Rivera took over in the final quarter, scoring nine of her 22 points as UST cruised to the top spot of Group A with a 2-0 win-loss record.

The Lady Falcons sparked a 14-5 run early in the fourth period, trimming UST’s 16-point cushion to just eight, 49-57, until Rivera took over down the stretch.

The Tigresses answered back with a 10-1 blitz and never looked back.

“Sinabi ko na lang sa kanila na mag-focus sa loob at ibalik kung paano ‘yung nilaro namin noong umpisa,” Rivera said.

The Tigresses were relentless on both ends of the floor as they kept the Lady Falcons at bay with a dismal 17-percent shooting in the second frame. They later ignited an enormous 20-4 UST run to mount a 15-point lead going into the second half.

Maica Cortes carried the España-based cagers with a double-double performance of 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Jinkie Ballasta paced the Lady Falcons with 25 markers.

The Tigresses will next face De La Salle University on May 17, 10:45 a.m at the same venue. Delfin Ray M. Dioquino
