Champion UST Junior Golden Tigresses are set to begin their title-retention bid
after finishing the second round of eliminations at second place over the
weekend at the Adamson University Gym.
UST defeated Adamson, 25-11, 22-25,
25-18, 26-24, to capture the second seed with a 10-2 record behind National
University who led the league with an 11-1 card.
Armed with a twice-to-beat advantage,
the Junior Tigresses will face third-ranked De La Salle University in the Final
Four.
In the boys’ volleyball tournament, the
Junior Tiger Spikers lost to Ateneo de Manila, 18-25, 23-25, 21-25, and settled
for fourth place.
UST finished with a 7-5 record behind
the Blue Eaglets (8-4), NU (9-3) and 10-time champions University of the East
(11-0).
With UE assured of a finals slot via a season sweep, the UST Junior
Tiger Spikers will square off against Ateneo anew in the first round of the
stepladder semifinals next week.
