Dec. 18, 2014, 10:13 p.m. – AFTER three straight
defeats, the UST Golden Booters are building momentum after a 3-0 shutout of
the University of the East in the UAAP Season 77 football tournament at the Far
Eastern University-Diliman pitch Thursday.
UST Striker Steven Anotado stole the show, scoring two goals
in the first 15 minutes of the match.
It was the second consecutive win for the Golden Booters,
who now carry a 2-3 win-loss card.
“Our focus is to keep on winning after three losses. We
adjusted our strategy and played different systems and we connected,” said
UST head coach Marjo Allado.
UST drew first blood as Anotado connected a header off a
Marvin Bricenio assist six minutes into the match.
Anotado evaded three defenders, including the UE goalkeeper,
to put the Golden Booters in complete control in the 12th minute, 2-0.
He completed the hat trick via an assist from Efren Menares
early in the second half.
“Na-motivate ako sa three straight na talo namin para
i-push ‘yung team ko,” Anotado said.
The Golden Booters earlier edged a rookie- Adamson
University side, 2-1, last Sunday for their first win of the season.
UAAP football action will resume Jan. 10 next year. Delfin
