UST Golden Booters suffer worst UAAP season ever

Feb. 23, 2015, 3:05 p.m. - THE UST Golden Booters capped their worst UAAP Season ever with another heartbreaking defeat against Ateneo de Manila University, 1-2, at the FEU Diliman pitch Sunday.

UST finished at sixth place, its worst showing in UAAP history, with a 4-10 win-loss card. The Golden Booters missed the Final Four for only the second time in 13 years.

Feb. 15, 2015, 10:35 p.m. - THE UST Golden Booters kissed their Final Four hopes goodbye after a  0-6 shutout by the Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 77 men's football tournament at the Moro Lorenzo field in Ateneo Sunday. 

UST, which finished third in Season 76, dropped to sixth place this year with a disappointing 4-9 win-loss card.

UST Golden Booters collapse vs. UP

Feb. 8, 2015, 9:25 p.m. - AFTER winning big against University of the East last week, the UST Golden Booters stumbled against league-leading University of the Philippines, 1-4, in the second round of the UAAP Season 77 men's football tournament at the FEU-Diliman pitch Sunday.

The Golden Booters' two-game run came to an end and dropped to a 4-7 win-loss card. UST's chances of another trip to the Final Four are now slim to none.

La Salle trips UST Golden Booters

Jan. 29, 2015, 7:56 p.m. - AN UNDERMANNED UST Golden Booters absorbed their sixth loss after a 0-1 decision against De La Salle University in the UAAP Season 77 men's football tournament at the FEU-Diliman pitch Thursday.

The Golden Booters, who lost team captain Gino Clarino to ejection in the second half, had a hard time penetrating the tough La Salle defense.

Green Archer Christian Zubiri nailed the lone goal of the match in the 10th minute, taking advantage of an early defensive breakdown by UST.

UST Golden Booters dominate Falcons

Jan. 25, 2014, 8:11 p.m. - THE UST Golden Booters overwhelmed Adamson University, 4-1, in the UAAP Season 77 men's football tournament at the Ateneo de Manila University pitch Sunday.

UST banked on Efren Menares and Steven Anotado, who had two goals apiece, to improve to a 3-0-5 win-draw-loss record.

Menares was aggresive from the beginning and kept pushing the ball from the right wing before finally drawing first blood in the 18th minute with a cross.

Later, he got past two defenders and connected on another goal, 2-0, at the 34th minute.

La Salle squeaks past Golden Booters

Jan. 23, 2015, 5:26 p.m. - THE UST Golden Booters collapsed in the end game and dropped a 1-2 decision against De La Salle University in the UAAP Season 77 men's football tournament at the FEU-Diliman pitch Thursday.

With the game tied at 1-all with only a minute left, La Salle's Karlo Villamor converted a header from a Nathaniel Alquiros cross to snatch the victory.

The Tiger Booters tried to equalize but the La Salle defense kept them at bay as they fell to sixth place with a 2-0-5 win-draw-loss card.

NU ends UST Golden Booters’ winning streak

Jan. 11, 2015, 7:34 p.m. - THE UST Golden Booters saw their two-game winning run come to an end after a 1-3 loss against National University in the UAAP Season 77 men's football tournament at the FEU-Diliman pitch Sunday.

UST fell to a 2-4 win-loss record.

His team down by two heading into the second half, Golden Booter Dexter Bencio came through with a goal in the 78th minute. 

But NU answered quickly as Paolo Salenga hit the six-yard box with a tap in the 80th minute to give his team a 3-1 cushion.

Anotado stars as UST booters upend UE

Dec. 18, 2014, 10:13 p.m. - AFTER three straight defeats, the UST Golden Booters are building momentum after a 3-0 shutout of the University of the East in the UAAP Season 77 football tournament at the Far Eastern University-Diliman pitch Thursday.

UST Striker Steven Anotado stole the show, scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes of the match.

It was the second consecutive win for the Golden Booters, who now carry a 2-3 win-loss card.

"Our focus is to keep on winning after three losses. We adjusted our strategy and played different systems and we connected," said UST head coach Marjo Allado.
