overwhelmed Adamson University, 4-1, in the UAAP Season 77 men’s football
tournament at the Ateneo de Manila University pitch Sunday.
UST banked on Efren Menares and Steven Anotado, who had two
goals apiece, to improve to a 3-0-5 win-draw-loss record.
Menares was aggresive from the beginning and kept pushing
the ball from the right wing before finally drawing first blood in the 18th
minute with a cross.
Later, he got past two defenders and connected on another
goal, 2-0, at the 34th minute.
UST striker Anotado took care of business from that point on
and scored an easy goal at the 38th minute to give the Golden Booters a
commanding 3-0 advantage.
He added another goal at the 61st minute for good measure.
“Naghahabol pa rin kami. Sabi ko sa kanila na forget
about the past and learn from our mistakes,” said UST head coach Marjo
Allado. “Nasa mga bata pa rin ‘yung desire na manalo.”
The Golden Booters next assignment is yet to be announced. Delfin
