Booters absorbed their sixth loss after a 0-1 decision against De La Salle
University in the UAAP Season 77 men’s football tournament at the FEU-Diliman
pitch Thursday.
The Golden Booters, who lost team captain Gino Clarino to ejection
in the second half, had a hard time penetrating the tough La Salle defense.
Green Archer Christian Zubiri nailed the lone goal of the
match in the 10th minute, taking advantage of an early defensive breakdown by
UST.
The Golden Booters almost scored an equalizer in the 19th
minute courtesy of Clarino, but was blocked by the La Salle goalie.
UST’s Jopridale Molino and Steven Anotado also had multiple
chances in the second half, but failed.
“Hindi ko maintindihan na everybody is off. After the
first goal, na-demoralize kaagad kami, nawala ‘yung sistema,” UST head
coach Marjo Allado said. “[Lack of] Experience ang pumatay sa amin
kanina.”
The Golden Booters, now with a 3-0-6 win-draw-loss record,
will try to bounce back when they face University of the East on Sunday, 1
p.m., at the Moro Lorenzo Field in Ateneo. Delfin Ray M. Dioquino
