2015, 7:34 p.m. – THE UST Golden Booters saw their two-game
winning run come to an end after a 1-3 loss against National University in the
UAAP Season 77 men’s football tournament at the FEU-Diliman pitch Sunday.
UST fell
to a 2-4 win-loss record.
His team
down by two heading into the second half, Golden Booter Dexter Bencio came
through with a goal in the 78th minute.
But NU
answered quickly as Paolo Salenga hit the six-yard box with a tap in the 80th
minute to give his team a 3-1 cushion.
UST had
several chances to score early in the second half, including back-to-back
corner kicks in the 62nd mark, but Jopridale Molino failed to convert his
header.
Francis
Abalunam of the Bulldogs tallied the first goal of the match in the 7th minute
with a free kick.
The
Golden Booters will cap their first round campaign against the De La Salle
University on Jan. 22 at the Moro Lorenzo field in Ateneo. Karl
