UPDATED Feb. 1, 2015, 7:15 p.m. – THE UST Golden
Tigresses stretched their winning streak to four after a masterful 25-19,
25-21, 25-23 win over the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in the second
round of the UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament at the San Juan Arena
Sunday.

After starting the season with a five-game losing skid, UST
has now won fourth straight to grab solo third place with a 5-5 win-loss
record.

EJ Laure took over for the Golden Tigresses, who remain
undefeated in the second round, with a team-high 17 points. Pam Lastimosa added
12.

Lastimosa broke a 23-all tie in the third set to put UST on
match point, 24-23, before Carmela Tunay iced the game with a down-the-line
hit.

Despite committing 29 errors, the Tigresses scored 40 attack
points orchestrated by Alex Cabanos who made 24 excellent sets.

UST also had a solid defensive outing with seven block
points compared to only two by FEU.

“’Yung enthusiasm to play nandiyan na. Dati parang wala
lang pero ngayon excited na sila sa training at sa laro,” UST head coach
Odjie Mamon said.

The Tigresses came out roaring in the first set as Tunay got
the offense going then cruised to a 25-19 victory.

In the second set, Lastimosa came through with timely hits
down the stretch as UST grabbed a commanding 2-0 set lead.

The Tigresses have dropped only two sets in their current
four-game romp which started after they gored the Lady Tamaraws at the end of
the first round.

UST will try to extend its streak to five in a row against
the De La Salle University Lady Spikers on Feb. 4, 4 p.m. at the same venue. Delfin
