Feb. 15, 2015, 10:51 p.m. – THE UST Male Woodpushers
triumphed over the University of the Philippines, 3-1, but the Female
Woodpushers succumbed to top seed De La Salle University, 1-3, in the
elimination round of the UAAP chess tournament at the DLSU Henry Sy Sr. Hall
Sunday.
UST’s Timothy So Kua, Steven Dacanay and Christian Flores
prevailed against their UP foes as UST remains in second place behind La Salle
with a 5-1-2 win-loss-draw card for 22.5 points. The Green Archers lead the
pack with 25 markers.
In the women’s division, Cyamir Villanueva was the lone
victor for UST, edging La Salle’s Mira Mirano.
The Female Woodpushers continue to struggle at fifth place
with 14 points and a 2-3-3 win-draw-loss card.
The tournament continues on Feb. 21, Saturday, at the same
