completed a double-championship as the Lady Bulldogs beat the UST Female
Tennisters, 3-0, in Game 2 best-of-three UAAP women’s lawn tennis finals at the
Olivarez Sports Center Saturday.
The Female Tennisters had no answer for the now back-to-back
titlists and failed to score a single win in their championship round.
Veteran Macy Gonzales and Kendies Malinis both lost to NU’s
Patrimonio sisters who dominated their respective singles matches.
“Kahit binuhos ng team ang lahat, kinulang pa rin kami
in the end,” head coach Dennis Sta. Cruz told the Varsitarian.
Despite the loss, Sta. Cruz admitted that the team overall
had a solid performance, but still not enough to upend NU’s streak.
The Female Tennisters improved from third place last year.
“I am happy kasi they really gave their all, babawi
nalang kami next season,” Sta. Cruz said.
The Female Tennisters will remain intact next season.
