UST grad tops Pharmacy board exams

July 22, 2015, 9:05 p.m. - FOUR Thomasians landed in the top 10 of the July 2015 pharmacy licensure examination, including the topnotcher.

Leading the new batch of Thomasian pharmacists is Mark Dumago, who had a score of 93.35 percent.

With the most number of examinees, UST remained the third top-performing school after posting a 93.56-percent passing rate, equivalent to 247 passers out of 264 examinees, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. This was higher than last year’s passing rate of 81.71 percent, equivalent to 268 passers out of 328 examinees.

UST Grad School to open MBA program at McKinley Hill in Taguig

May 31, 2015, 8:48 p.m. - UST IS set to open Master in Business Administration (MBA) classes in the middle of a bustling business district in Taguig, under a partnership with the country's largest business group.

The MBA program will be the pilot program in what will be the University's first off-campus site at McKinley Hill in Taguig. The announcement of the historic development was made Saturday by Graduate School Dean Dr. Marilu Madrunio during the school's annual solemn investiture.

Pharmacy program gets Level IV accreditation

May 22, 2015, 5:42 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY’S Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy program has been granted Level IV accredited status by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities - Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), the highest recognition given by the accrediting body.

PACUCOA  granted  the Level IV status last May 12 after the pharmacy program satisfactorily met all the criteria, namely: excellent outcomes in teaching and learning, research productivity as tool for institutional effectiveness, community service, linkages and consortia, career planning and development for students, and planning process.

Outstanding Thomasians recognized in 2015 UST Student Awards

May 8, 2015, 7:56 p.m. - THOMASIANS from several faculties and colleges were recognized in the 2015 UST Student Awards held at the Quadricentennial Pavillion on Friday, with the Tradition of Excellence Award bestowed upon an organization in the College of Architecture.

The UST Architecture Network received the top honor for student groups, which is conferred on recognized student organizations that have won awards for five consecutive years.

Profs honored in 16th Dangal ng UST Awards

March 26, 2015, 6:59 p.m. - EXEMPLARY Thomasian professors were recognized in the 16th Dangal ng UST Awards held at the Medicine Auditorium on Thursday, with the Hall of Fame award bestowed upon a Nursing professor.

“Ang tunay na hamon sa kanyang kakayahan [bilang guro] ay ang impluwensyang humubog ng isang magandang kinabukasan para sa bayan. Ang pagtuturo ay isang karangalan at gawain tungo sa kabanalan,” said Vice Rector Fr. Richard Ang, O.P. in his opening remarks.

11th USTV Awards highlights ‘charity’ and ‘truth’

Feb. 27, 2015, 3:28 p.m. - THE ANNUAL USTV Students’ Choice Awards marked its 11th year with the launching of a new logo during a kickoff party at Plaza Mayor Thursday.

With the theme, “A New Beginning: The Youth Shaping Modern Media for Veritas,” this year’s USTV awards aims to recognize television personalities who have influenced and inspired Thomasians to seek the truth.

In celebration of the jubilee year of the Dominican Order, "USTv" was changed to "USTV," with the capital letter “V” for "Veritas" or truth, the Dominican motto.

Paskuhan focuses on forthcoming papal visit

Dec. 12, 2014, 11:52 p.m. - AN ESTIMATED 70,000 people flocked to UST on Thursday for this year’s Paskuhan celebration, which focused on the upcoming papal visit and featured the return of the yearly fireworks display.

The University-wide celebration had the theme “Pagdiriwang ng Pagmamalasakit: Tomasino Kaisa ni Papa Francisco at ng Simbahan sa Pasko.”

Grad School offers extension programs to other universities

THE UST Graduate School has established external linkages by offering some extension programs with other universities in the country.

Graduate School Dean Marilu Madrunio said the project was initiated due to the request for teaching assistance of the University of San Agustin’s Graduate School in Iloilo.

At present, the UST Graduate School has extension program arrangements with the University of San Agustin for master of laws and master’s degree (MA) in Pharmacy, and the Ateneo de Davao University for MA in Architecture.

Last year, extension programs were held in October during the semestral break, but due to UST’s new academic calendar, they will be offered in December this year.
