Nursing exam retake welcomed

FACULTY leaders of the College of Nursing are confident that their stand for a retake of the leakage-marred June nursing licensure exams will be sustained by the Court of Appeals (CA).

Earlier, President Macapagal-Arroyo made an about-face on the issue and ordered a retake of the exam. Previously, she had stated there was no need for a retake.

But apparently informed that the matter had been brought to the CA by the Faculty Association of the College of Nursing (Facon) of UST, she said she would wait for the court’s decision.

“I was so afraid of failing so I prayed about the exams,” Chua told the Varsitarian. “I just saw myself passing the exam but when I got the results, I was really shocked that I topped it.”

Benjie Reyes’ innovations in wood

THIS artist may be a wood sculptor, but his art does not grow on trees.

Building a large, three-story house entirely of wood without cutting down a single tree has never been a problem for Benji Reyes, an internationally-acclaimed furniture designer and sculptor. Using recycled wood as material for his exquisitely made furniture and even for his own house, this Thomasian displays not only a passion for woodcrafting, but also a love for nature.

Nursing urges PRC head to resign

FACULTY leaders of the UST College of Nursing have urged Philippine Regulation Commission chair Leonor Tripon-Rosero to resign for for allowing the oath-taking of some passers of the controversial June exam despite a court restraining order.

“The PRC commissioners led by Rosero should resign for mishandling the leakage issue,” Faculty Association of the College of Nursing (Facon) president Rene Tadle told the Varsitarian. “Rosero circumvented the law by allowing the oath-taking, when in fact she knew there was a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO).”
