HUMILITY and discipline proved to be the keys to victory of team captains Rodolfo Reyes Jr. and Jo Ninobla, as they carried the UST Tiger Jins back to UAAP poomsae supremacy.

The national team stalwarts started and ended their UAAP poomsae careers as champions, collecting three gold medals en route to their third championship.

Reyes said head coach Rani Ortega instilled humility and discipline on the team, which kept them sharp throughout their UAAP careers.

“Once na lumaki ulo mo, doon na po mawawalan ng gana sa training. Lagi po namin tinatandaan ni Jo as team captains na always train kahit na wala si coach,” Reyes added.

The two won in their respective individual categories before teaming up in the mixed pair category for another gold.

This is the first time Ninobla took home a gold medal in the individual category.

“Sobrang grateful po kasi first time ko lang din na nag-gold sa individual kaya sobrang blessed kasi `yun `yung naging goal ko sa UAAP,” Ninobla said.

Ninobla capped her UAAP career with four gold and two bronze medals.Reyes ended his decorated UAAP run with a 10-2-2 gold-silver-bronze medal haul.

UST head coach Rani Ortega said the duo will still help train the team for next season.

“But we need to move forward and we need to discover new talents,” Ortega said.
