Charisa Lemoran’s late heroics in the 83rd minute allowed the UST Lady Booters to salvage a 2-2 draw against the Ateneo de Manila University in the of the UAAP Season 79 women’s football tournament at the FEU-Diliman football pitch Sunday.
UST could not escape Ateneo’s pesky defense until Lemoran drilled a long goal past Ateneo goalkeeper Marie Rianne Caparros.
“Kailangan walang ibang iniiisip kung hindi ibigay ang buong sarili [at] utak sa laro. ‘Yun lang ang requirement ko kaya lang nakikita ko masyado silang distracted,” UST head coach Prescila “Aging” Rubio told the Varsitarian.
With the game tied at 1-all, Ateneo, which had three clear shot attempts to start the second half, banked on Kathleen Camille Rodriguez’ 57th minute goal to gain a 2-1 advantage.
Earlier, Rodriguez found the back of the net in the 21st minute but UST’s Jan Christelle Cleofe retaliated in the extra time of the first half as she freed herself from Ateneo defender Mia Angele Catedrilla.
The Lady Booters, still at second place behind a 3-2-1 win-loss-draw card, will face FEU on April 19, Sunday, 3:30 p.m., at the same venue.
