UNIVERSITY officials clarified the grounds for the dismissal and penalties for faculty members. In a seminar held last July 24 at the Chiang Ching Kuo auditorium, UST legal aid chief Atty. Arnold Cacho discussed the sanctions for faculty members who will be proven incompetent or insubordinate and disrespectful to superiors.

The seminar, titled “Understanding the Standards of the Thomasian Community,” aims to enlighten faculty members on the policies of the university regarding their dismissal.

According to Cacho, students, faculty members, and deans will evaluate a faculty member’s performance during the past school year. If proven inefficient after the evaluation, the faculty member will be dismissed immediately. Cacho immorality and conviction of a crime are also grounds for dismissal.

Moreover, Cacho said a faculty member who commits acts of lasciviousness or maintain sexual relations with a student will also be terminated immediately.
