UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas Rector Fr. Tamerlane Lana, O.P. was re-elected president of the Association for Catholic Universities of the Philippines (ACUP) during its general assembly and president’s forum last August 14 at the Ateneo de Manila University.

According to Giovanna Fontanilla, ACUP secretary general and UST executive assistant to the Secretary General, the board of directors representing the 29 member schools voted for the extension of Fr. Lana’s presidency for another three years.

“I guess Fr. Lana was deemed by the Board to be the best (choice), since he was chosen once again for the position. He still has a lot to offer for the association, being the previous president, and still has a couple of projects to finish for ACUP,” she said.

The 10-man board of directors is composed of heads of UST, De La Salle University, Ateneo de Manila University, St. Paul University, St. Louis University, Notre Dame of Marbel University, San Carlos University, University of San Agustin, Adamson University, and Xavier University.

There were also brief presentations of youth surveys and regional reports in National Capital Region, Southern Luzon, Central Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and Northern Luzon during the ACUP general assembly to determine the progress of ACUP’s projects in those areas. Elka Krystle R. Requinta
