the College of Architecture formally launched Cities 2002 last June 29 at the Roque Ruaño Building Conference Hall.

“(Our objective) is to be a stimulus for growth by showing our communities that development through a humane and sustainable manner is not only economical but achievable as well,” said Arch. Ma. Elena Cayanan, chairperson of this year’s conference.

The Second International Conference for Sustainable and Humane Cities will be held on Sept. 26 to 28 in UST.

With the theme “From Grey to Green: Best Practices in the Rejuvenation of Our Communities,” the conference aims to find solutions for the growing problems of pollution, population increase, and the deterioration of the quality of life.

Non-government organizations, local government unit representatives, and international delegates, who can contribute valuable insights on environmental preservation, are invited to join the conference.

Currently, the organizing committee is accepting papers and dissertations that will be presented during the conference. Billy Joe I. Allardo and Teodoro Lorenzo A. Fernandez
