TO PROMOTE the University among high school students as having a reputable school of engineering, the Chemical Engineering Society (CES) of the Faculty of Engineering (Engineering) organized the Young Engineers Quiz 2005 last Aug. 22 at the Medicine Auditorium.

Twelve secondary schools competed in the quiz bee including the UST High School and Claret School of Quezon City, Chiang Kai Shek College, St. Jude High School, St. Stephen High School, Caloocan City Science High School (CCSHS), Manila Science High School (MaSci), Malate Catholic School, Philippine Christian University, St. Scholastica’s College, St. Paul University-Paranaque, and Philippine Academy of Zakia.

MaSci and CCSHS went head-to-head but MaSci prevailed in the tie-breaker round. Chiang Kai Shek College settled for third.

“The quiz contest was very meaningful with respect to its future outcomes. In fact, aside from the quiz contest, we even showed a video presentation of UST, from the Educational Technology Center, as a campaign for the faculty of Engineering among secondary schools,” said McRobart Steeler dela Peña, CES Academic Committee chair.
