TO REALIZE better the vision of the Archdiocese of Manila as a community of faithfuls working together as an active part of the Roman Catholic Church, Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales will head the first Manila Archdiocesan General Pastoral Assembly (MAGPAS) on October 21-22 at De La Salle Greenhills with the theme “MAGPASalamat sa Diyos, MAGPASaya ng kapwa, MAGPASimula ng bagong pangarap at MAGPASahan ng ala-ala’t mga kwentong parokya.”

Earlier, the UST Santissimo Rosario Parish hosted the 11th pre-MAGPAS assembly of the Vicariate of Our Lady of Loreto last Aug. 20.

According to Josefina Javier, Manila Archdiocesan Catechetical Ministry coordinator, a series of vicarial assemblies was held to gather parishioners to take part in helping plan the pastoral thrust.

“These vicarial assemblies are actually pre-MAGPAS by themselves,” Javier told the Varsitarian. “We gather the parish leaders of each vicariate to hear their questions and suggestions that may enhance the forthcoming MAGPAS. In this way, we motivate them to actively participate in the activities of the Archdiocese.”

Headed by Msgr. Gerry Santos, representative of the Manila Archdiocese Steering Committee, the assembly gathered 104 participants from parishes of the Most Holy Trinity, Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro, Nuestra Señora de Salvacion, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Loreto, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Saint Anthony of Padua Shrine and San Roque Parish.
