THE LOBBY of the oldest medical school will get a facelift worth P2 million this month, courtesy of Medicine Batch 1979.

According to Dr. Rolando Lopez, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and a class ’79 member, the Medicine lobby needs new flooring, ceiling, and lighting fixtures as it is “shady and shabby compared with other historic buildings in UST.”

The Faculty also hopes to restore the 46-year-old mural by National Artist Vicente Manansala on the lobby’s walls, but that would cost another P500,000, said Lopez.

The renovation project is expected to be completed by the second week of December, in time for the Faculty’s grand alumni homecoming on Dec. 15. Reagan D. Tan
