FOUR Thomasians joined this year’s Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant last March 15 at the Araneta Coliseum, with one nearly repeating the feat done by Miriam Quiambao in 1999.

Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate Jhezarie Gamez Javier was crowned Bb. Pilipinas-International. Javier will represent the country in the Miss Interntional beauty pageant in Tokyo, Japan.

The 2001 Ms. Thomasian Personality, Javier also took home three special awards—Ms. Agfa Photogenic, Ms. Myra 300 E,and Ms. PAL Sunniest.

Not be left out was Gretchen Malalad, who went home with two special awards—Ms. Red Bull Energy and Ms. Talent. Unfortunately, the Communication Arts alumna did not land in the final 10.

Malalad is famous in the sporting world for her exploits during the 14th Asian Games in Busan, South Korea. Also a Southeast Asian Games gold medallist, Malalad bagged a bronze medal in the women’s kumite during the Asian Games.

Another Thomasian who joined the beauty pageant was Caroline Ramos. The former Ms. College of Architecture and Fine Arts and Ms. Thomasian Personality 2001 runner-up was chosen Ms. Friendship. Like Malalad, Ramos also did not land a spot in the final 10.
