INSTITUTE of Religion Director Fr. Clarence Victor Marquez, O.P. has been appointed by UST Rector Fr. Ernesto Arceo, O.P., as the new vice-rector for finance last Nov.2, replacing Fr. Melchor Saria, O.P. Marquez will hold the two positions concurrently.
Other new appointees by the Rector include College of Education Prof. Clarita Carillo as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs. She replaced Dr. Armando De Jesus, who’s back as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters. Former Public and Alumni Affairs Office (PAAO) director Dr. Cristina Castro-Cabral has been appointed as Assistant to the Rector for Student Affairs, succeeding Dr. Evelyn Songco.
Returning as PAAO director is Assoc. Prof. Giovana Fontanilla, who previously served as executive assistant to the Secretary General.
Arceo has also appointed new regents to several colleges and faculties of the University. They are Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner O.P. (Medicine and Surgery), Fr. Roland Cortel O.P. (Pharmacy), Fr. Rodel Aligan (Arts and Letters), Fr. Arthur Dingel, O.P. (Engineering), Fr. Joaquin Valdez O.P. (Science), Fr. Lucio Gutierrez, O.P. (Commerce) Fr. Pompeyo de Mesa, O.P. (Nursing), Fr Edgardo Alaurin, O.P. (College of Fine Arts and Design), and Fr. Isaias Tiongco, O.P. (Accountancy)
Fr. Dionisio Cabezon, O.P. is the new Dean of the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Philosophy while Fr. Jose Ma. Tinoko has been appointed as Acting Dean of the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Canon Law. Meanwhile, new deans are Dr. Ma. Graciela Gonzaga (Medicine), Assoc. Prof. Peter Lim (Engineering), Assoc. Prof. John Joseph Fernandez (Architecture), Dr. Helena Cabrera (Commerce), and Assoc. Prof. Jocelyn Agcaoili (Rehabilitation Sciences).
In addition, Assoc. Prof. Ninia Calaca is now the acting Budget director and Engr. Oliver Gagarin is acting superintendent of the Buildings and Grounds. Jocelyn Calubayan is the new director of the UST Publishing House, while Dr. Salve Olalia is the new director of the UST Student Health Services. Jordan Mari S. De Leon
