AFTER three years of keeping track of Thomasian alumni, Office for Alumni Relations director Evelyn Songco is back to dealing with students.

Songco was appointed assistant to the Rector for student affairs last January 18, taking over from Anita Garcia who was named caretaker following the end of Cristina Cabral’s term.

Garcia remains coordinator of the Student Welfare Development Board.

“I am looking forward to working with the students again,” Songco said in an interview.

Songco was among the recipients of the Gawad Benavides for 35 years of service to the University last year.

She finished her master’s and doctorate degrees in development education in UST.

Songco was replaced by Michael Angelo Malicsi, who is back as alumni relations director after three years of serving as executive secretary to the Rector.

Malicsi said he would prioritize the construction of the Thomasian Alumni Center left by Songco.

“The groundbreaking will pursue on February 4, with key personalities from the UST Medical Alumni Association in the US, who pledged support to the building of the alumni center,” Malicsi said.

He will be replaced as executive secretary by Fe Tiangco, who was a staff member of the Center for Continuing Professional Education and Development under the Graduate School before her appointment.

Songco and Malicsi are graduates of the College of Education.
