January 9, 2016, 7:38a.m. – THE PONTIFICAL UNIVERSITY achieved a 100-percent passing rate in the recent nursing licensure examinations, with all 402 Thomasian examinees acing the test. Twenty-four UST graduates made it to the top 10 list.
Topnotcher Alyssa May Madriaga led the new batch of Thomasian nurses with a score of 86.40 percent. She shared the top spot with Alyssa Claire Almo of Remedios Romualdez Medical Foundation and Suha Canlas Ibrahim of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM).
Twenty-three Thomasians joined Madriaga in the top 10 list.
UST graduates Ma. Marceline Rose Cabug and Bella Teresa Rosales (85.60 percent) landed at fourth place. They were joined by Jumela Mica Bautista and Hannah Kristine Mugol of University of the Philippines (UP) Manila and Stephanie Pangilinan of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology.
Thomasians Jude Brian Burgos, Kristle Anne Santos and Kim Sia ranked fifth after scoring 85.40 percent. They were joined by Patricia Mae Felipe of UP Manila and Frances Jenicah Fianza and Gizelle Anne Juico of St. Louis University.
UST alumna Heather Diokno Beredo landed on sixth place with a score of 85.20 percent. She was joined by Jizel Marie Antonio of St. Paul University-Iloilo, Reygie Dear Apduhan of Father Saturnino Urios University, Danah Mae Arzadon of Mariano Marcos State University-Batac, Danielle Gardaya of UP Manila, Darianne Jimenez of St. Louis, Cherry Faith Labtang of Mountain View College, and Jan Mikhail Regalado of Tomas Claudio Memorial College.
Thomasians Juaymah Leynes, Pamela Agatha Puno and Ryan Jasper Rodriguez (85.00 percent) placed seventh along with Jean Angelo Aguado of Central Philippine University, Maria Josefa Banares of UP Manila, Mayla Beating of Colegio San Agustin, Mark Anthony Bucoy of Western Mindanao State University, Daryl Co of St. Paul-Iloilo, Diane Colcol of St. Louis, Joahna Jabao of Mindanao State University, Mary Limoico of St. Gabriel College, Thessa Miro of Davao Medical School Foundation, Glenice Nebato of Mountain View, Valerie Salvador of Western Mindanao State University, and Margarette Simangan of St. Paul University-Tuguegarao.
Placing at No. 8 were Thomasians Khristell Donn Cortez, Zarah Del Libozada, Venz Eryl Sabaldica and Ivan Gabriel Simpauco, with scores of 84.80 percent. They shared the spot with Rhyan Era of Central Philippine University, Warley Fajardo III of Our Lady of Fatima University-Quezon City, Roanne Lagua of Medical College of Northern Philippines, Arren Mado of Aklan Polytechnic Institute, Ryana Anjela Quero of UP Manila, and John Ardy Redondo and Gehla Dana Marie Tumanan of St. Louis.
UST alumni Kristal Dimalanta, Bien Dominic Oamil and Kimberly Querubin scored 84.60 percent and placed ninth along with Noreen Arriesgado of Christ the King of Calbayog, Farishia Buhari of Western Mindanao State University, May Deutzmann of Xavier University, Trisha Divinagracia of St. Paul-Iloilo, and Jhun Guillermo, Pascual Forteza Jr. and Mark Echano of PLM;
Criszel Florentino of Medical College of Northern Philippines, Justine Gervero of St. Louis, Daphne Marucot of University of Perpetual Help, Princess Oya-a of University Eastern Philippines, Krishia Tan of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, and Dan Tating, Reiner Tamayo, Rophy Nunes, Jim Magsino, Martin Latorre Jr. and Karissa David of UP Manila.
At 10th place were Thomasians Lea Marjorie Corpuz, Ma. Janna Corpuz, Mikaela Denise Cruz, Justin Cedrick Pacquing, Daezen Mae Sera Timog, Mylene Vista and Jana Alyza Zabala, who all posted an 84.40-percent score.
They shared the spot with Asraidah Hadji Amenoding of Bukidnon State College-Malaybalay, Nicole Bautista of PLM, Praise Maranatha Bechayda of Aklan State University-Banga, and Hyacinth Faune, Lovely Kim Co and Mary De Grato of UP Manila;
Katrina Fagafaran of Mariano Marcos State University, Juliann Floralde of University of Eastern Philippines, Neslie Foliente of Adventist University of the Philippines, Rhea Mecisamente of Xavier University, Regine Pacunayen of Mariano Marcos State University, Princess Quinsay of St. Louis, Kersten Rasarito of Universidad de Manila, and Karl Sahagun of San Pedro College of Davao City.
The University was also hailed as the top-performing school after achieving a perfect score, along with Mariano Marcos State University-Batac and Xavier University.
Other top-performing schools were Cebu Doctors University, St. Louis University, San Pedro College-Davao City, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Central Philippine University, Mountain View, St. Paul-Tuguegarao and University of San Agustin.
The national passing rate improved to 49.26-percent, with 9,114 examinees passing the test out of 18,500 takers, from last year’s 38.46-percent.
Last year, UST posted a 99.55-percent passing rate, with 23 Thomasians making it to the top 10.
