Sept. 24 2016, 11:06 a.m. – The UST Central Commission on Elections (Comelec) gave Lakas Tomasino Coalition a one-day suspension from campaigning for next year’s elections, for prematurely announcing the names of the new Pharmacy Student Council president and vice president.
In a resolution released on Sept. 23 the Central Comelec said Lakas Tomasino violated the UST Students’ Election Code of 2011 that prohibits “any person, associate or group” from “prematurely [declaring] the results of the election.”
The party posted a congratulatory message on Twitter last Aug. 17 for Paolo Patac and Aldwin Layug–who won the presidency and vice presidency, respectively–without the official proclamation of the Comelec.
The Pharmacy Comelec officially declared the winners last Sept. 12.

Lakas Tomasino said it had no intention to declare the winners early and the announcement was made in good faith, the resolution read.
The party added that its members were not in the Legislative Assembly when the election rules and regulations were announced.
