The University will host Sulong Pilipinas: The 2019 Students’ Tax Convention and Youth Consultative Workshop, during which the Department of Finance (DOF) will tackle the Duterte administration’s Comprehensive Tax Reform Program, on Nov. 29 at the Thomasian Alumni Center.

The event will provide updates on Duterte’s Zero-to-Ten-Point Socioeconomic Agenda, followed by a workshop and an intercollegiate quiz bee.

Finance Undersecretary Karl Kendrick Chua and Bureau of Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Marissa Cabreros will talk about the tax reform program in the morning session.

A press conference will be held at noon with Youth for Sin Tax, Youth for Mental Health, Youth Alliance for Health Reform, National Youth Parliament, National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants, Junior Philippine Economics Society, UST Accountancy Student Council and the Benilde Student Government.

Sen. Pia Cayetano and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III will speak in the afternoon session.

Sulong Pilipinas is a regular consultative conference during which the government dialogues with the private sector on key economic priorities. This year’s edition will be the first to cater exclusively to college students since it began in 2016.

The event is in partnership with the UST-AMV College of Accountancy and the Accountancy Student Council. L. M. Salen
