THE CENTRAL Student Council (CSC) on Saturday urged the administration to provide updates on the refund of fees as well as release the table of fees for the next academic year.

The CSC also sought updates on the schedule of enrollments for the special term and the first term of Academic Year (AY) 2020 to 2021, in a letter to Vice Rector for Finance Fr. Rolando Castro, O.P.

“These concerns were raised because a lot of our fellow students’ families are currently exhausting necessary means for proper allocation of their budget in anticipation of academic spending and other matters,” CSC President Robert Dominic Gonzales said in the letter.

A memorandum from the Office of the Secretary General in May said tuition and other fees for AY 2020 to 2021 would be reviewed in consideration of the “new normal” and the possibility of continued implementation of online learning in the first term of the next academic year.

Unused fees for AY 2019 to 2020, such as for retreats or field trips, will be fully refunded, the memo said. Other fees may be refunded up to 50 percent, it said.

The CSC requested data on remaining student council funds for AY 2019 to 2020, and called for a consultative meeting with college student council presidents and officers to discuss the allocation of funds as well as tuition and other fees for the next term.

The letter was also signed by college-based student council presidents.

UST has announced a shift to the “Enriched Virtual Mode” in the first term of AY 2020 to 2021, which is set to begin on Aug. 13, 2020 and end on Dec. 18, 2020.
