THOMASIAN students rebuilt the UST campus on Minecraft and are proposing to host a virtual Welcome Walk for freshmen in the sandbox video game.

IICS sophomore Charles Nobleza, who spearheaded the project, said his team would bring the idea to the Central Student Council.

“When the University released the official academic calendar and decided to remove our traditional Welcome Walk and Roarentation, we felt bad for the incoming batch and thought of hosting one for them by making it virtual,” Nobleza told the Varsitarian.

“It is also a parting gift to our UST alumni for them to have a glimpse of our beloved school in a game,” he added.

Minecraft is a block-building video game that allows players to construct objects out of textured cubes.

Nobleza said the Minecraft server for UST was still being completed by a team of 80 Thomasian volunteers.

In late June, the University released the collegiate calendar for AY 2020 to 2021, which excluded the annual Welcome Walk and Roarientation for freshmen due to community quarantine guidelines.
