THE UNIVERSITY was the second-best Philippine school in the August 2021 licensure examination for mechanical engineers, fulfilling the minimum requirement of five successful examinees.

Only six Thomasians took examinations, with five making the cut.

This year’s passing rate of 83.33 percent was a significant improvement from last year’s 12.50 percent or two out of 16 Thomasians.

Ateneo de Davao University and the University of Mindanao, which sent five and nine examinees, respectively, were the top-performing schools this year.Both recorded perfect passing rates.

Nathaniel Beaver Mendoza of Saint Louis University emerged as the topnotcher with a 90.05 percent score.

The total number of examinees nationwide plunged from 5,560 last year to only 621 this year due to the suspension of licensure examinations in Metro Manila, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro.

The national passing rate this year was 39.77 percent or 247 out of 621 examinees, a slight increase from last year’s 38.45 percent or 3,928 out of 5,560 examinees. Jamilah B. Angco
