A THOMASIAN was elected president of the United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary (UAPSA), an organization for architecture students.

Architecture senior Zion Enrico Licup will lead UAPSA for Academic Year 2021-2022.

“With our platforms and general plan of action, we will strive to create a more progressive change within our organization,” Licup told the Varsitarian.

Licup became part of UAPSA in 2018 as an executive associate to the vice president for programs and development. He later became community development director in the UST chapter.

In 2019, Licup became chief of staff of the national auditor of UAPSA. He became the national auditor a year later.

Licup will be inducted into office as national president this month.

Aside from his UAPSA post, Licup is the youth ambassador of the UST College of Architecture. He co-founded iUplift Philippines, a student-led fundraising initiative for families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first UAPSA national president was Thomasian Kristine Calixto, who served from 1993 to 1994.

With over 21,000 members across the Philippines, the UAPSA is the official student arm of the United Architects of the Philippines, the only professional organization of architects in the country recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission.
