MORE THAN 200 new signatories have been added to the list of UST faculty members who support Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo’s candidacy for president in the 2022 elections.

As of March 6, 2022, a total of 633 faculty members from at least 22 UST academic units have endorsed Robredo as president, according to the group “Thomasians for Leni.”

The group released a statement of support for the vice president’s candidacy on March 1, signed by 396 faculty members.

The updated breakdown of the faculty members is as follows:

  • Faculty of Arts and Letters – 65
  • Faculty of Civil Law – 8
  • Faculty of Engineering – 53
  • Faculty of Medicine and Surgery – 57
  • Faculty of Pharmacy – 31

The Varsitarian has learned that two signatories on the list were not faculty members: one was a Senior High School student and one was a Civil Law student.

In their earlier statement, Thomasians for Leni said that it was “a first in the history of UST” that faculty members teamed up for a political campaign.

Thomasians for Leni is composed of students, faculty members, and alumni from the University’s main campus, as well as from UST Angelicum and UST Legazpi, who support Robredo’s run for presidency in the 2022 elections.
